WBZ-TV has now gotten a new weekend morning Meteorologist. She joined the WBZ weather team in January 2005 as the morning weather producer. As many of you know, Sarah also works for WSI (Weather Services International).

I’m way behind on all these changes at WBZ, but what’s happening to Barry Burbank? He epitomizes New England weather coverage, and to see him lose the morning slot was not only sad but insulting to a man with his credentials and status among his peers. Nothing against those stepping into these slots. I just think Barry deserves better.
One can see the results of the recent cost cutting trend at work here.
Her on camera work is painful to watch. She started doing weekends early last winter. A week or so later Buzz was in front of the maps. He seemed to get better, Sarah did not.
She can’t speak off the cuff. She confuses the forecasts and mixes words.
Maybe her talents are better served behind the camera, or hopefully she’ll learn to relax, have fun with her time on camera, and become a better commentator on a subject that enjoins science and common sense.
Buzz maybe gone, part-timer Ellen has not been seen for many months now (a shame, she is very good). But from a managerial standpoint — costs are being cut.
